Carrie, Ted & Leo

I did this family session at the end of June and forgot to post it on the blog! This summer was so crazy with my internship, assistantship, and photography! But, I can’t deny that it was incredibly fun! I’m actually glad my last semester of taking classes is starting up.

Anyway, I had so much fun with this family session. At first, Leo was a little bit shy, but then we became good friends. haha. He was so cute! I can’t get over his baby blue eyes either.

I think the one below is my favorite…

Brother Sister Love

Tripti is a friend of mine at Purdue. We worked together in the residence halls one summer and have continued getting lunch every so often since then. Her brother is moving out of state for medical school this fall, so she decided to have some photos of them taken for her parents before they split! We roamed around Purdue’s campus for a little while…Here are some of my favorites:

Meet the Kenney Family…

This session was SO MUCH FUN! Erin and I are in the same master’s program at Purdue and have become really good friends. She mentioned that her parents 30th anniversary was coming up….and we decided to book a session! It was a rainy stormy day but we caught a few hours in between with some beautiful light…

P.S. They are crazy. But, that’s why these pictures rock.

It’s Sunny and Hot

We thought we’d be OK taking photos at 9:30 in the morning…whew! It was definitely HOT HOT HOT, but it was fun. It prepped us for our fun filled humid wedding the following weekend. JC just turned 5! We took these photos a few days before his birthday. Brandon and I used to work with his mom on campus at Purdue, and we had a blast taking their photos! I think the very last few photos were JC’s favorite.

In a typical 5 year old fashion…He was off to see a puppy that was on the trail…

Friday Fun

We photographed this beautiful family a couple of weeks ago. We started at their beautiful home and then strolled through Purdue’s campus. It was so fun! Their kids were running around and enjoying the weather, so we paused them every now and then to get some photos. I hope you enjoy! I have so many blog posts coming…

a taste of summer.

I’m seriously in love with the warm weather we’ve been having. I know it’s boring to write about the weather, but I really do love it. Except for the excessive amounts of pollen making my eye water on and on…anyway, we went to my hometown a few weeks ago and took photos for a cute little family. Check it out:

Spring is awesome.

We’ve had some great weather the past few weeks (special thanks to April for being record breakingly warm!). I am finishing up my second semester of grad school (exciting! I only have two actual classes left!). We’re getting ready to move into our OWN house (in a little less than a month!). So, we’ve been busy, and I’ve been blog slacking. I’m still doing as much photography as I can, and I’m really  looking forward to going crazy this summer! Our first 2010 wedding is approaching quickly!! We’re so excited.

We caught a cloudy day this spring and snuck outside between the rain drops to get some photos in front of this BEAUTIFUL tree in this families front yard! How fortunate they are to look outside their window and see this beauty each day it was blooming. They are such an awesome family with great kids! I love photographing kids. They make me smile.

Their youngest little guy is so adorable! He warmed up to me after a little bit.

We ended with some story time with mom…I love these last few (especially in black and white!). If you have a family tradition or something simple that you love to do together, I recommend getting it photographed (professional or snapshot..either way). Those are the images I treasure most from my childhood. And, I hope your family will treasure these in years to come.

And after mom finished the story, the big brother took over…I love getting to see moments like this, and I hope that my family can be as cool!!

David, Janae, and Tyler – Family Session

We had a fun winter shoot with some friends of ours. It was a cold, cold day, so we took some inside before we braced the cold.

They have this really pretty wall outside!

Tyler kept looking at Brandon because his camera was making a lot “cool” noises. (He had his camera on High Speed Continuous.)

Tyler was such a good sport too! He wasn’t feeling the best and didn’t sleep well the night before, but he still had lots of great smiles for us. Oh how I love taking pictures!! I’m hoping we get more snow and I can go out and take some more!!

Best Of 2009 – Family, Kids, Portraits

I told you I was going to post this…and I’m still working on the blog changes…slow and steady wins the race?

Wow. That’s pretty much all that I have to say about how my photography has changed in 2009. It went from being a fun hobby to something that brings fun and happiness to others too. I feel so blessed to have the skill and to be given the opportunity to perfect it throughout this past year. I look back on some of my pictures and wish I could go back and do them all over again because I am constantly learning and growing. I really am thankful for each and every person and family that we photographed this year, and I look forward to many more next year. I’m really excited that Brandon has decided to join in on the fun and is now obsessed with perfecting our photos. We have a blast when we do this together, and I hope it’s a hobby that we will always maintain together.

For the record, those flowers were dead! I tied a red ribbon around them to keep them from falling out of the pot, and I really like how the picture turned out.

This is one of my FAVORITE pictures from the year. At first, I didn’t even realize I was getting Brandon’s shadow in it. But when I did, I was so ridiculously excited!

P.S. We <3 downtown photos. Someone book a downtown session ASAP. :)

I think this one might be one of our all time favs. It helps that these kids are so darn cute! :)

Alright, it’s time to stop. Check out the Kim Davis Photography fan page in the near future. It’ll have the Best of 2009 album…and there might be a few more. Next up, 2009 Brides and Grooms Top 10.

Elizabeth’s Family

So, I’m titling this post Elizabeth’s family because I’m not sure what her parents last name is! :) But that should work! This was a fun shoot in the Purdue Memorial Union. I love that building! It’s great for cold winter time shoots. We found a few hidden places to take photos. I think that their staff is going to get annoyed with how frequently we ask them to unlock a couple of doors. But seriously, these places are awesome! We even managed to sneak outside to get a couple pretty shots in the snow. Here are some of my favorites from the day:

I think the one below might be my favorite…

Thanks for a fun day! We hope you enjoy your photos.
