Curt and Vanessa

These two are really good friends of ours. We enjoyed being a part of their wedding day! They are crazy and super creative. Vanessa made her bridesmaid’s bouquets (gorgeous and soo unique and cool). She also made her veil! She looked so stunning. After their ceremony in Chicago, we met them in downtown Lafayette for some fun. :)

I told you they were crazy…and fun…

Where have I been

And check out these beautiful people!

I have been a major blog slacker, but I promise that a) I have been photographing beautiful people, and I’m excited to post some of these adventures and b) I’ve been using my time wisely (studying, working, etc. etc. etc.). School started this past week. Last week I went to Mississippi for my job at school. So, this week was catch up and do homework week. I’m recovering today!

Now on to Andy and Lauren. These two are so awesome! They are so nice and had such a beautiful fun wedding! I really enjoyed getting to know them and photographing them. They’ve been married for a little over a month now!

Chris and Sabrina

I know. I know. They got married over a month ago, and I’m JUST NOW posting their photos to my blog….What can I say..It’s been a crazy, fun summer. Rest assured, they got their photos a few weeks back. :) Now on the beauty…

Details. Details. Details. I love shoes.

Future grooms, take note. Chris sent Sabrina roses every so often (delivered by a groomsmen). It was super sweet.

Sabrina’s sister does hair out of her home. She was a major trooper and did the entire bridal party’s AND the bride’s hair before the wedding. Did I mention she’s expecting their second baby?? Anyway, if any other ladies are looking for an awesome hair stylist (who can travel to your prep location), send me a message, and I’ll get you her digits.

The beautiful bride.

The rings…

The Flying V…It’s one of our favorites…

Pretty, pretty skies…

The coolest first dance ever….. (click here if you’d like to see it!)

Congrats to Chris and Sabrina! I know they’re enjoying married life and had a LOVELY honeymoon to Hawaii.

The First Look

We recently photographed the wedding of Chris and Sabrina, and it was a blast!! It was my first wedding with a “first look” photo, and I have to tell you. It was awesome!!

Chris waited outside for Sabrina and they had a few sweet moments together before their day started. It totally relaxed the moods and settled the nerves!

I am fairly confident this is when he said, “You look hot!”..and she diiiid!

Congrats Chris and Sabrina!! Just wait for their full blog post :)

Ben & Stephanie

In June we traveled to St. Louis for the beautiful wedding of Ben and Stephanie! It was soooo much fun. They had a ton of time between the ceremony and reception which left us with ample time to take tons of photos. They had what I call the photographers dream ceremony location. There were so many windows!! It was definitely a beautiful day (despite the ridiculous humidity!).

Stephanie’s brother married them. I thought that was so cool and special. He had randomly gotten the license to marry people several years ago thinking he’d never use it…Little did he know!

Stephanie ordered flowers in bulk and made her own bouquet (and the bridesmaids). They were beautiful!

Jamie was one of the best Maid of Honors I have seen…

Congrats Ben & Stephanie! I hope you are fully enjoying married life.

Jasher & Jenny – Raleigh/Charolette, NC Wedding!

This was our first fly to a wedding to take pictures wedding! And, it was for a great friend of ours. It was indeed the day after Kristy and CTs wedding. We got home from that wedding and recharged batteries, cleared the memory cards and backed up the photos. I think we got about a two hour nap before we had to get up and head to the Indianapolis Airport to catch our flight to Raleigh. The timing for this was absolutely crucial as our flight landed about 45 minutes before their private ceremony began. We had perfect timing despite there being snow in North Carolina! Since they were friends, we were able to attend the ceremony and then sneak out to get some photographs outside the LDS Temple in Apex, NC. Temples are such beautiful places. We snapped a few photos there with family and friends. And then we headed to what might be my favorite place to take wedding photos…or just photos in general…the Sarah P. Duke Gardens on the Duke University Campus. Can I just say that this place is stunning? Duke students are so lucky. *If* I went to Duke, you’d definitely find me hanging out on the lawns of this beautiful place. We spent an hour there the day after the ceremony before our flight left on Sunday. That’s another post to come! Anyway, back to Jasher and Jenny’s big day. I think we spent an HOUR walking around the garden and taking photos. It was beautiful and such a romantic place to go after you get married. There was a light dusting of snow to cover up the brown of winter which made it even more beautiful. I LOVE having extra time between the ceremony and reception. It gives us plenty of time to capture beautiful photos and meaningful moments. So, now on to the pictures….

Family

When I go through pictures after a wedding, and I see some like the one below. I get really jealous that Brandon gets the zoom lens and is able to stand back and capture those real uninterrupted moments from the big day.

I think the one below might be one of my many favorites from the day…

Now on to the Sarah P. Duke Gardens. There’s a rumor that Jasher’s a Duke fan now?? ;)

I guess I would be too if I lived in NC and could skip around in these gardens every day.

Jenny wore her boots while we walked around the snowy gardens:

Pretty rings in pretty snow…

Jenny, you are SO pretty. Jasher is one lucky dude.

Love this picture too…

Their reception was beautiful. And so was their cake! Check out that detail. I’m fairly confident it matched the design on their invitations!

Love these with the pretty lights…

I think this picture is so cute..

The groom’s cake brought some Boilermaker pride into the reception.

And, I will end on this photo of three little girls watching Jasher and Jenny dance. I only wish I could have listened to their thoughts as they watched. They were so cute!

Thanks for letting us share in your day Jasher and Jenny! It was great meeting you Jenny. We really did have a blast and enjoyed spending time with both of you. We hope you enjoy the photos and treasure them!

Kristy and CT – West Lafayette, Indiana Wedding

This wedding was so beautiful. So thought out. So personal. And so much fun! These two have great families that made their day sweet. I have so many favorites. I love capturing weddings. It was fun to capture one in our town where we new the area. Purdue University has such a beautiful and fun campus. We definitely enjoy photography in this town. We were very excited when Kristy and CT chose us as their wedding photographers. We did their engagement pictures awhile back. These two are so in love and so cute! We’re definitely fans! haha.

I love “getting ready” pictures. They might be one of my favorite parts of the day.

Kristy, you are so beautiful!

Ring bling!

She also has really HOT shoes! Looooove them!

Her dress was SO BEAUTIFUL and elegant and simple. So classy!

Grooms need to know what Bride’s go through on their wedding day:

While I was with the ladies prepping, B was with the gents. I love this picture of CT. I think one of his sisters helped him a little later.

I think the next two pictures might be two of my favorite captures of the day (thanks to Brandon). B told me that his grandma started tearing up when they were pinning on her flower. She is seriously a cool lady. Just wait until you see the rest of the pictures. You’ll know what I’m talking about. :)

I love seeing what the guys do before the ceremony starts:

I love, love, love the grooms first view of the bride…Sometimes, it makes me tear up.

Love everything about this photo.

smooch. smooch.

The Girls.

Boys.

After the ceremony, we took some photos in the Purdue Memorial Union which is a beautiful place to have a reception and get some fun photos.

My view:

I’m pretty sure Kristy and CT met at Purdue? Either way, they both graduated from Purdue and had their reception on campus.

It was fun walking around campus watching students head to their finals. And were very thankful ours were over!

Their cake was also pretty, simple, and so very elegant.

CTs Grandma caught the bouquet!

These boys fought for it. Can you guess who won?

Congrats Kristy and CT! We had a blast and were glad we could share in your special day. We hope you enjoy the photos!!

Weekend Wedding Extravaganza Sneak Peek

I am so very excited about the pictures Brandon and I took this past weekend! We had one crazy, whirl wind of a wedding filled weekend. And, it was a blast! Our weekend started out with the Friday Wedding of Kristy and CT in West Lafayette, Indiana. Followed by a Saturday (late) morning wedding of Jasher and Jenny in Raleigh/Charlotte, North Carolina.

We finished up Kristy and CTs wedding around 10 and came home and packed, backed up all the photos, and slept for about 2 hours before heading to the airport to catch our flight to Jasher and Jenny’s wedding. The timing was perfect and there were no delays at all. Both were beautiful days filled with love and good times. I think I’ve finally recovered from the lack of sleep, and now I’m enjoying editing the masses of photos that we took. B and I really are a great team. He’s the best assistant I could ask for! Enough rambling from me…Here’s a peek at our crazy filled weekend:

Kristy and CT. I must say, the Union at Purdue is a beautiful place to have a reception.

Jasher and Jenny. If you get married in North Carolina (near Raleigh), you’d be a fool not to have your photos taken in the Duke Gardens. They are BEAUTIFUL! (B and I went back on our way back to the aiport…those pictures will come much much later.)

More details to come in a couple weeks (if not sooner!)

Sneak Peek – Joshua, Susan, Samuel, Zachary, and Lillian – Family Session

I’m finishing up my first semester of grad school. Which means, I am 1/4 of the way done! Hooray! I have a couple of reflections left to write and then it’s 100% photo editing time. I’m so very excited about my first newborn shoot this afternoon and my first Purdue photography event. Very exciting stuff going on here at Kim Davis Photography. Look forward to lots of blog posts before the end of the year. We’ve got back to back weddings on the 18th and 19th! And, I’m compiling a Best of 2009 post, so get ready to see our favorites from the year.

I thought I would give a sneak peek for Joshua, Susan, Samuel, Zachary, and Lillian. We began their shoot by their cozy fireplace, and I love how cuddly their kids are in this picture. So sweet! I can’t wait to finish editing and post the rest.
