These boys were such gems. I was lucky enough to get the gorgeous photos of them together that I posted yesterday and an equal amount of beautiful ones of them by themselves. They are not identical and have such distinct features, yet they look so much alike that I can barely tell them apart. Baby Blake is in blue and baby Kelan is in green (Arianne is a clever mom!) — that will be one great way to tell them apart one day.

The Why

This has been a dream of mine. Something I thought would always be a day dream. I was so excited when this e-mail came through. I was able to photograph TWIN boys. These boys were seriously gems. I’m not even exaggerating. One would be fed while the other was conked out getting their picture taken. Then they’d switch. Then they’d cuddle. Then one would get hungry again while the other snoozed. Ridiculously easy! (Though, I do think that parents of twins should get double the maternity leave because it’s not REALLY easy…I mean, come on TWO babies, twice the work, double the lack of sleep).

Anyway, I’ve really been contemplating my business lately and thinking about “the why” that I do photography, and this post is actually just for me and an example of the why I LOVE taking pictures. I still have one or two more posts to make from this session, but I just wanted to post this series. These simple, nothing fancy pictures that illustrate why I love this accidental job I stumbled into. So, why do I take pictures? It’s the ability to capture a memory, a personality, a love, a life that motivates me to get my camera out. Most of the time I love an image that’s a little off artistically but perfect in capturing reality. The first photo that I posted here might be one of my favorites from the session with these little boys. It’s technically off. There are some flaws, but it’s just real. And, I love that.

This makes me smile.

Well friends, my life has been nothing short of nutty for the past few months — whose hasn’t? I feel like that’s how spring is! Between all the craziness, life has been going. So much so that my BABY is 11 months old! Really? One year ago? Crazy! It’s fun though. With work, Brandon finishing school, and having a sweet baby, I’m having to cut back a little bit on photos. It’s hard for me to do, but I want to make sure I’m treasuring every moment with my kiddo. I have limited availability this spring, but contact me to see when we can set something up! In the mean time, enjoy these photos of my sweet family.

Spring Blooms

I was excited when this session came together. The blooms were gorgeous on my way to work, and I was glad I was able to take advantage of them with my camera later that day! (I even brought my own little family along for a quick session — check back tomorrow!). This family was so much fun. The lighting was SO perfect. There was a storm going around us — we literally only got a few drops — so it was that perfect overcast pre/post storm gorgeousness. These kids have ridiculously gorgeous eyes — and are just pretty darn cute in general!

I don’t know if I have the words to describe how fun this session was for me.

I’ll start by telling you I have a photo bucket list. I have a list of ideas/places/things I want to photograph. Dreamy things that make me feel like a real photographer/artist. With this session, I was able to check one of those things off my list. Library. I’m not sure why, but I always thought it would be sweet and sneaky and just fun to photograph a couple in a library. So, we started off our session doing just that. And, then we roamed around Purdue. These two are so much fun!

I love Purdue campus photos. I have other favorite locations, but I’ve been having a lot of fun exploring Purdue with my camera this spring. I’ve watched this little guy grow up, and it’s so crazy to think he’s a big one year old!

I have to admit, sibling photos with a newborn are daunting to me. They can be totally hit or miss based on a long list of factors. But when they actually work…and it’s seamless..it’s the best thing ever!

Leave it to Chloe to rock a sibling session. I can’t believe I’ve been photographing her since she was a newborn — and now her baby sis. It’s CRAZY how time flies.
